Every donation or sponsorship can make a big difference
Donkeys are loyal, intelligent, calm, and very affectionate animals. They are a species we all know, but we rarely consider the care and attention they need.
At Tivissa Donkeys Firefighters, we protect and care for these little friends. Still, we need everyone’s help because the costs of care for each animal are different and every contribution adds up immensely.
Caring for the brigade requires paying attention to:
The most important thing is to have a place for the animals to rest and to shelter from the rain or the cold in winter. We must always have spaces with the necessary conditions so that the donkeys can be protected from any bad weather.
Cleaning and Hygiene
Donkeys require a good level of periodic hygiene maitanance. Furthermore, their living space needs daily cleaning.
A whole team is required to carry out the tasks of cleaning, taking the donkeys out for grazing and exercise, and giving them food supplements.
Our friends must be visited periodically by the vet for check-ups and to administer their vaccines so that they do not suffer from diseases such as distemper, flu, or tetanus.
A good donkey diet includes large amounts of fiber such as barley straw, hay, and alfalfa that the pasture itself may not provide. Therefore, for most of the year, donkeys must be provided with these foods additionally.
Vitamins and supplements
Specific products are also required such as supplements and vitamins that boost defenses and that sometimes donkeys cannot obtain from the natural space itself.
It may seem like a simple task to take care of our donkey brigade, but it is not. These are some examples of the care we provide, but there are many more things that are required of us on a daily basis and that we must have the financial and human capacity to carry out.
